Day 1, Tianamen Square and Silk Market

After taking showers, we took off for the Silk Market. Actually, it was a market for just about everything! Stalls filled with girls, calling out stong man, boy, pretty girl!! I make best price for you! I think we should get them to teach us how to sell stuff! They don't take no for an answer!
It was fun though. Of course, Kathi was able to haggle well with them. She got a Gucci bag for 5 dollars I think. Nick got some shoes. Then we went to Tienamen Square. It was pretty cool. You DO need a translator for it though, so you know what you are looking at! We did not have one but had a great time just looking at these HUGE buildings. The taxi rides are as amazing as the site though. No real rules it seems! Bikes, walkers, buses, taxis, cars all swarming around. Its amazing there are not wrecks everywhere and dead bikers all over the roads!! Anyway..things are going well. The food is still a little freaky. Especially for Nicky. Even the hamburgers taste different. Kind of "gamey". We go to the Great Wall and some temple tomorrow with the group. Should be fun! I'll keep you posted!
Here's a link to all the photos I took today....2 pages so click through!

Good morning, Charles,

Hope you are not having too much problem with jet-lag. Sounds like your start has been good. Can't wait to hear your comments after you try the original chinese food. Keep those photos coming.

Thanks,
kc

Glad you're there safely. Just think of the food like you did the first time you went to Sakura...

Very cool to view China through your eyes. What an adventure! The great wall is just unbelievable. We can't wait to see pictures of your family of 4 tomorrow.
Best Wishes,
Paul and Stacey
